Additionally, Safety Coordinators are encouraged to stay for this training but are not required to do so.

OUTSIDE TRAINING

SIDP Requirement: at least two (2) Deputies should attend an SIDP-approved safety training between January 1, 2020 and August 30, 2020. The dates, locations and registration information will be posted below when it is finalized.

NOTE: Only SIDP-approved training will meet the SIDP requirements. This means no other Deputy Training, Skid Car Training, etc. will qualify.

OUTSIDE TRAINING

SIDP Requirement: two (2) Correctional Officers and Jail Staff (must be same two*) should attend a minimum of three (3) courses of the 2019-2020 SIDP-approved Alabama Jail Training Academy** (AJTA) between October 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020.

*Exceptions to this requirement will be considered when COs or Jail Staff leave county employment; however, a substitute CO or Jail Staff must be registered and attend the course and SIDP Coordinator Marcia Collier must be notified of the change in advance of the course.

**See below for details about this reimbursable training opportunity.

NOTE: Only SIDP-sponsored training will meet the SIDP requirements. This means no other Jailer Training, Jail Management Training (JMT), etc. will qualify.

2020 CENTRAL ALABAMA CONSTRUCTION SAFETY CONFERENCE & EXPO – FREE!

Due to COVID-19 we know many R&B Safety Directors did not attend the above conference.  In light of this, we will be offering an alternate training requirement.

**ALABAMA JAIL TRAINING ACADEMY (AJTA)
County Fund Members are eligible to receive full or partial reimbursement of registration fees for up to two (2) graduating officers per year, provided the registration fees have been paid. Graduating officers are those who successfully complete AJTA’s four-course curriculum between October 1 and September 30 of the succeeding year. Current-year reimbursements are handled automatically by ACCA. In the event an officer completes AJTA’s four-course curriculum over a longer period of time reimbursement will be considered provided the reimbursement limit had not already been met for the completion year. Requests for such reimbursements must be made in writing with proof of AJTA attendance and sent to SIDP Coordinator Marcia Collier. For more information about AJTA, click on the link above.
NOTE: only SIDP-sponsored training, such as AJTA, can be applied toward SIDP requirements. JMT and all other Jailer and/or Deputy training, and Skid Car training will not qualify for SIDP.

 

JAIL MANAGEMENT TRAINING AND SKID CAR TRAINING

Jail Management Training and Skid Car Training are not part of the SIDP; however, County Fund Members are eligible for this reimbursement program. Click on the link above for details.
